The Music Ministry at St. Peter's

The St. Peter’s Parish Choir rehearses weekly September through May and regularly sings the Sunday 10:15 Eucharist. We rehearse Thursday nights from 7:30 to 9 PM, preparing music for Sundays, Evensong, and special liturgical events.
We have an extensive and eclectic repertoire ranging from traditional Anglican Tudor music to contemporary composers, including an occasional spiritual. This choir sings Evensongs and concerts throughout the church year. One of our big works this year was Mozart’s REQUIEM with an orchestra of period instruments sung for All Souls Sunday. We are happy to welcome new members. Just contact Mark Engelhardt and arrange for a “non-threatening” audition. Singing in the Parish Choir is fun and hard work, and we welcome any from high school age on up who can read music and are interested!
The St. Peter’s Treble Choir is open to children (usually in the 2nd grade) who have developed good reading skills. The Trebles rehearse on Tuesday afternoons from 4:45-5:30 pm. St. Peter's parish has the distinction of being one of the first Episcopal parishes in the United States to invest in training young singers by using the methods and materials of the Royal School of Church Music. In addition to learning repertoire, our young singers are learning valuable skills in music, leadership, teamwork and in Christian education. Any family interested in learning more about the RSCM and our program at St. Peter's, should contact Mark Engelhardt.
Choir Alumni Association was founded in 2004 providing fellowship between choristers past and present. We are always interested in what former choristers are doing and would love to hear from you. You can visit our Facebook page Choristers of St. Peter’s by~the~Sea Episcopal Church, Bay Shore where you can read about the choir history and view pictures of choristers past and present.
